Metropolitan Tokyo's bus network is a lot smaller than other cities due to its extensive subway and railway network, with a substantially smaller fleet. Long frequencies are typical in tandem with lower demand, but their punctuality is comparable to railways and timetables are published.
Toei Bus is government owned, and all their buses within the city centre are wheelchair accessible (WAB). The remaining bus operators are from private railways. Bus services from the latter are either feeder, intra-town or serve areas that are not served by any railway line.
Popular contactless cards Pasmo and Suica are accepted on almost all bus services in Tokyo.
