Home / SBS Transit, Singapore (before GCM/BCM) / Volvo Olympian 3-Axle / Batch 2 663

The Volvo Olympian is the direct successor to the popular Leyland Olympian, after the company was acquired by Volvo. The design was further improved upon with the newer Volvo TD102KF engine (9,603cc) in the later years, and more notably the dashboard and its internal components was standardized along with other Volvo models.

A further second batch of 200 Volvo Olympians 3-axle were ordered by then-Singapore Bus Services, which were also fitted with Walter Alexander Royale bodywork. The first of these units entered service in 1996, and were registered SBS9401T to SBS9600K. These buses had a newer interior configuration, were fitted with 4-speed ZF 4HP 500 automatic transmission and air-conditioning supplied from Sutrak or Nippondenso. They are the last batch of double deck buses still utilizing plastic destination plates.
