In 1997, then Singapore Bus Services received its first low-entry bus and demonstrator from Volvo, the B10BLE. It was the direct successor model to the popular B10M series. It was powered by the Volvo DH10A245 engine (9,603cc) that is Euro II compliant, and fitted with 5-speed ZF 5HP 500 automatic transmission.
Registered as SBS1668K in January 1998, it had Mobitec flip-dot EDS, and air-conditioning was supplied by Sutrak. The bodywork was from Volgren, of the CR221L make. Before its retirement in January 2015 the bus was last assigned to 84, a short shuttle route serving Punggol Road End.
