Introduced in 1995, these 50 "Striders" buses had a similar bodywork design to its B10M Mark IV counterparts that were bodied by Walter Alexander, only that then Trans Island Bus Services (TIBS) chose the Scania L113CRL chassis instead.

Each SMRT "Strider" is powered by the Scania DSC1171 engine (11,020cc) that is Euro I compliant and fitted with 4-speed ZF 4HP500 automatic transmission. Underfloor air-conditioning was supplied by Hispacold. They were originally fitted with flip-dot EDS from Lawo Luminator Europa (now simply known as LAWO), and are typically seen on suburban routes in the northern and western parts of Singapore.
