O405s at Original Boon Lay Interchange
Mercedes-Benz O405 Mk Is were once a common sight for Bus Interchanges in the West, such as the old Boon Lay Bus Interchange (now demolished). In this photo, several O405s were parked side by side.

O405 DM OACs at AMK
Two MBO405 DM OACs at Ang Mo Kio. Two kinds of A/C were fitted. SBS533E (front) received the Fuji model, while SBS451H (rear) was fitted with Sutrak.

Front-to-rear interior view
The O405 DM OAC has seating for 47 passengers, with a total capacity for 85. It originally came with seat covers consisting of white leather and four stripes of blue fabric at the centre and grey air-con ducts.

They are now fitted with magenta red seat covers and air-con ducts after refurbishment. The old style bus stopping buttons on the window side panels would light up in purple when activated.

Emergency hatches were provided at the ceiling towards the rear sections of the DM OAC O405s. The bench seats were of the older type, with the handle bar and frame structure made of metal.

Front interior section
The double-leaf front doors had one bigger and smaller in size. In the past, the driver would open only the bigger leaf to control boarding flow, to ensure that every passenger purchased a ticket.

The vintage "Bus Stopping" and "Doors Closing" signs were supplied by S-Light (now LECIP). Tickets were issued via the farecard validator on the right. TV Mobile was fitted on O405 DM OACs during the program's lifespan.

Priority seating
There are no side-facing seats on the O405s; instead rear-facing seats were installed over the front wheel-arch only.

Priority seating, alternate
For many years, green seat covers has been used to mark the priority seats. They were traditionally located just before the exit door. In recent times, SBS Transit allocated additional priority seats at the front section of buses.

Rear interior section
All the seats in the rear section of O405s are forward-facing. The last row, where the emergency exit was, has a 2 + 1 + 2 bench seat configuration.

Driver dashboard
Instead of 'D', the transmission selector for the W3E 110/2.2R had the options of '1', '2' and '3' on top of 'R' and 'N'. The gauges are placed on the left hand side of the dashboard.

Standing area
At the later stage of the O405 DM OAC's lifespan, four row of seats were removed and a dedicated standing area was created near the exit door.

Equipments such as the breakdown sign, first aid and fire extinguisher were located under the front screen. The primary farecard validator was previously located here; it was removed when the Ez-link card reader replaced it.
