Scania K230UB (Euro IV)

斯堪尼亞/世冠/紳佳K230UB 歐盟四型 (顺丰) [Batch 1 : B29D, Batch 2 : B30D]
The major workhorse of a new generation of wheelchair accessible buses (WAB), the Scania K230UB was the first low-floor single deck bus to be introduced in mass quantities from November 2007. This model also saw the introduction of Electronic Destination Signage (EDS) as the standard equipment for new SBS Transit buses, a major turnaround in policy from plastic signs as LED-based EDS is now cheaper to purchase as compared to the era of Dennis Trident 3s.

A total of 501 Euro IV units were purchased. Its Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) technology does away the need for additives in exhaust treatment. They were powered by the Scania DC9 Euro IV engine (8,867cc), and fitted with the ZF Ecomat 6HP504C 6-speed automatic transmission. Bodied by Gemilang Coachworks of Malaysia (where similar units were delivered to RapidKL), each Euro IV unit had 2 wheelchair spaces, Coolair EDS and air-conditioning by Denso (except 8033D).

(Due to the large amount of photos, they have now been split up into number plate registration in multiples of ~100.)

The K230UB chassis is low-entry - there are steps before it leads up to the rear section of the bus. It is one of the many reasons why standing passengers do not like moving to the rear.
