Volvo B10M (Mark III)

富豪B10M 第三型 (都普·金屬) [Config : B50D]
In 1992 Singapore Bus Services purchased 300 Mk IIIs, registered SBS582M-SBS881A. All of them were fitted with the Volvo THD101GC engine (9,600cc), and received Duple Metsec bodyworks that were similar to its Mk II counterparts. With the exception of SBS876R and SBS877M (which were fitted with ZF 4HP500 4-speed automatic), all Mk III buses were fitted with the 3-speed Voith DIWA automatic transmission. With Fuji or Sutrak air-conditioning, these units were a major addition of air-conditioned buses to the existing fleet when first introduced.

When cross-border service 170 was converted to full air-con, a good number of them were assigned to it. This is the last bus model to feature double-sided metallic side destination plates that were square in shape, that bus captains could simply flip over at the terminus; subsequent models use a rectangular plastic sign or for a few selected routes place them at the front.

The original fittings were blue/dark blue seats with grey ceiling over the ducts. They are now replaced with magenta red ceiling and seat covers. The elevated step between the seats and aisle made creation of a dedicated standing area unsuitable.

There is generous seating for 50 passengers, with room for 31 more standing. The total capacity of a Mk III is 81. The rounded ventilation fans mounted across the interior are usually not in operation.

It is also the last model to use the old type bus stopping buttons on the window side panels that lights up in purple when activated. In some refurbished buses, such as this one, this feature was completely removed.

TV Mobile was installed into the Mk IIIs. The Mk III is also the first model to use side-facing seats on the right, which can seat up to three persons.

The Mk III is the last single-decker to originally use the old type of seat handle and metal frame structure that can be typically found on O405 OAC, LO3X and VO2X.

This was a particular surprise when it appeared on a Mark IV Strider years after Mark IIIs were refurbished. Without access to 777T's interior, this bottom seat cover is the closest one can get.

There were very little changes to the dashboard since the B10M Mk II model. The gearbox selector is on the top left corner.
