The second type of Trans-Island (now SMRT Buses) bendy bus was introduced in early 2000. The bodywork was of an updated version from Hispano Carrocera and featured considerable aesthetic improvements when compared to the pioneering batch of O405Gs. These buses had thicker seat cushions, more legroom, improved LED bus-stopping sign that could display time and messages and was fitted with TwinVision LeDot EDS from Transit Media, which had LED lighting behind each individual flip-dot that would appear clearly illuminated at night. While possible design cues of the front exterior bodywork might have originated from the first-generation O530 Citaro (1997 design), these O405G buses are not to be labelled as Citaro G because they are not an integral product offered by Evobus.

The engine and transmission for this batch of buses remained the same as the pioneering batch, powered by by the turbocharged and intercooled Mercedes Benz OM447hLA engine (11,967cc) that is Euro I compliant, and fitted with 4-speed ZF 4HP 590 automatic. Underfloor air-conditioning was supplied by Konvekta. It is the only model to have all its doors operated with electric motors, which were supplied by Bode and quieter as compared to its pneumatic counterparts. A total of 29 units of this type were purchased by then-TIBS. All units were withdrawn from service by February 2017.
