SBS Transit received a MAN 18.240 (coded A69) low-entry demonstrator from ST Kinetics for trial between 2008 and 2010. Registered as SBS8031J, it was bodied by Gemilang Coachworks of Malaysia. It was powered by the D0836 LOH52 engine (6,871cc) that is Euro IV compliant and fitted with 4-speed Voith D854.5 automatic transmission. Its Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) technology does away the need for additives in exhaust treatment while meeting the Euro IV emission standards. Air-conditioning was supplied by Coachair and EDS was from Cool-Air.
This bus was tested on the short-haul eastern routes of Singapore. At the end of the trial, the demonstrator was returned to ST Kinetics and no further purchases were made. For a brief period Dnata operated it for Changi Airport operations. In October 2013, the demonstrator was exhibited by MAN at the Indonesia International Motor Show.
